New Salem Borough was incorporated July 24, 1876.

Sherwood Forest was annexed on October 7, 1969.

New Salem Borough has a population of 724 according to the 2010 Census and an area of 0.46 square miles.

August Council Meeting will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 due to NSNO Event being held at the Borough Building August 4th.

Please come join us for New Salem's Second Night Out Event.

Tuesday, August 4, 2015 - 6pm - 9pm Borough Building - 80 Water Street

The event is being organized in an effort to heighten awareness and enhance community relations. This event is for all borough residents and their families, boruogh business owners and their employees. It will be held at the Borough Municipal Building.
* Meet the West Manchester Police, the York New Salem Volunteer Fire Company & the Tri-Community Ambulance
* Meet York County Quick Response Team & York County Mobile Command Center.
* Expect an entertaining evening of games by Community Organizations and businesses and free picnic style food.
* Enjoy a One-Man Band & Ballon Tying fun and Face Painting.
* Enter to win free drawings for community-related certificates and prizes.
* Bring your flashlights, as the evening’s festivities will end with a flashlight parade! (BYO Flashlight)
* Traditional “lights on” campaign and symbolic front porch vigil.

You are invited to enjoy delicious cuisine from participating restaurants in New Salem Borough.Each restaurant is deciding on the discounts and/or specials that they will offer through out the week. Feel free to spread the word to neighbors and friends.
Maybe invite someone to lunch or dinner or both!

Other local establishments may be participating in restaurant week but have not reported to the Borough.
Junior Council Person Application

Junior Council Person Program

New Salem Borough Council wishes to extend to the youth of New Salem a voice in the operation of the Borough and Borough Council. The Council is currently accepting applications from high school students who are residents of the Borough. If you or someone you know is interested in this program, please contact Cheryl Bahn at 792-1261.
